The heart of a managed care program is the network of physicians, hospitals and providers who
treat your patients' needs. These are the professionals who determine - to a significant extent - how well
patients recover and how much it will cost to support a claim. So, what makes a good provider and, ultimately,
a good network?
For starters, good providers are good communicators. They train their staff to provide timely
information to both patients and the folks who pay the bills. Then, they lead by example.

Good providers exhibit consistently excellent clinical skills. They diagnose accurately, treat
conservatively, refer appropriately (for testing and specialist treatment), and enjoy a good reputation among their peers.
Good doctors promote patient trust in their technical skills and give injured workers the confidence
to return to work at the earliest opportunity.
|
|
 |
Finally, good providers are willing to fix their performance to standards that equal or exceed those of their payer clients: in professional competency, in caring, and in being there when your patients need them.
At PMG, we can help you meet providers who meet these standards, and stay acquainted with those who have served your patients well in the past.

Provider training is a service that we make available to our medical providers.
The purpose of the training is to help physicians and their staff
members in their quest to improve efficiency, increase profitability and decrease the incidence of problems with payers.
Provider training services include such things as: payer-specific authorization and billing procedures; use of treatment guidelines; outcomes measurement; effective medical care coordination;
documentation guidelines; general coding procedures; workers' compensation issues; and regulations
regarding patient and provider rights under applicable managed care law.

 |
PMG Network providers receive a provider handbook covering many of these topics.
